What would a still river say
of its thirsty trees?Would it ask them to come in
a little tighter on its banks?Perhaps the dark fog may be
a reminder of hope circling the drainPerhaps the approaching night
might awaken fear from inky shadowsThe moon peers cautiously from behind
mountainsThey all agree- in whispers

Curiously I chose the same painting and animated moon and humanized animals too! I enjoyed visualising the scene you created Vivian.

A stunning descriptive piece which evokes the painting perfectly.
P.S. You may have a small typo on pears/peers/appears

Nice, Vivian. Don’t we all wish those streams would decide to wait until later to go beyond their banks. In 1979 we abandoned our home to a flood in the middle of the night. I had our daughter under my arm and carried a clothes bag under the other. Mrs. Jim carried the dog and a bag if small things. Water then was over a foot deep, it peaked at 33 inches. And stayed for three days. Six months later we moved back in.

Wow! What a story! I’m glad it’s in the past. And how big is this baby daughter of yours now?😊
