If I close my eyes and incline my ears
I will hear names called out across the earth
Some drop names to impress
others pick up names to remember
and many more give names to things
that do not exist as if they wereIf I close my eyes and incline my mouth
I can resurrect my long lost loved ones
just for a moment
by calling their names from the north and southIf I shut all my senses and whispered
once more
I would bring into existence
that which had never known life before

Such a splendid take on the prompt, Viv! ❤️ I love the idea of “resurrect my long lost loved ones just for a moment by calling their names from the north and south.” 🙂

I love how you let the naming connect to a purpose… a name should be useful

What an original and delightful poem, Viv! I love the thought of closing my eyes and hearing all those different names called out across the earth, and being able to resurrect long lost loved ones by calling their names.

I like this, Vivian, I smile. I too can recall some of my ex girl-crushes, only a couple really girl friends, but Google and Facebook has never heard of them. Not mine, there are a few with their same names but it isn’t them.

I believe if you call a loved ones name they can hear it somewhere out there in the universe.

Yes, I love your interpretation of the prompt. I call out so many names for those who no longer walk earth. You asked about the image on my blog. I found it on Pexels. The images there are free of copyright restrictions. I then took the photo into a photo program and typed the poem on it.

Naming my children (and animals) has always been so very important to me – the meaning and reasoning behind each is very important to me. “calling them from the N and the S”… nice.
