Tracing the line
between love and hate
Both- so closely knit
-not together
-neither apart
but enough to tickle
the finger of fate
A line that can only be discerned
by a shredded heart
-to which scars have added much weight
-that murky line between love and hate

Wasn’t it Chrissie Hynde who sang about the thin line between love and hate? It’s probably best not to trace that line because we don’t know where it might lead us.I like the tentative rhyming, Viv, tracing the line…

At times that line is strtched thin, to the point of breaking, other timr its a bond held fast. Great write Vivian…

Yes – it seems that the distance between love and hate can be crossed quickly. Especially if a bottle (as evidenced in the photo you used) is involved.

The line between hate and love is actually very thin.. so much so that it’s almost invisible. ❤️

A sad photo, which certainly brings forth the conflicted feelings you write about. I liked the line “enough to tickle the finger of fate”.

Yeah this instantly put that Pretenders song into my head! Not a bad thing. I too find that photo really compelling, is it yours?

A thin line to be sure. I like the image of “shredding”. Photo was devastating.

And it doesn’t help when Fate keeps prodding its fat fingers into the sore spots, slowing down the healing that needs to happen to leave the love-hate binary behind.

Its a rare marriage (ot affair) that doesn’t have its ups and downs….much like travelling by sea; if it gets that bad you really get sick of it!

Scars have added weight. This is painfully beautiful.
The relationship between the lips and the bottle, as depicted in the picture, is of love and hate. Though knowing that the bottle is bad, the contents are gulped down. Venom is being ingested.
