There’s much I wait for:
⁃ a sharp razor that’ll cut a tree
⁃ an axe with its immense strength to cut my hair
⁃ common sense to thread it’s way into politics
⁃ kindly lawyers who waive their bills
and a rush of freezing ice over the fires of hell
Oh yes!
My breath is stopped with growing anticipation
as I command time to wait for me

Interesting twist on the prompt. As my grandfather used to say, “Don’t hold your hand over your butt while waiting, it might grow there.”

There’s no balance when only you are the one waiting all of the time. I like your “equalizer” ending 🙂

Thank you 😊 Even more imbalance when waiting for all these impossible things!

But they are still worth waiting for, especially the common sense in politics!

I’m waiting for common sense to thread it’s way. I am reminded of what my grandmother used to say “Don’t wait for tomorrow, do what you can today”

I like the thought of commanding time to wait and this “rush of freezing ice over the fires of hell”.

No chance of common sense threading its way into politics, Viv; I think we’ll see ice freezing the fires of hell first!

I like all those impossible things – it reminded me of that old poem “I saw a peacock, with a fiery tail…”http://www.potw.org/archive/potw193.html – though your poem is angrier and sadder. I think we’re all waiting for a little common sense to return.

Thanks Sarah! All this waiting is good as long as we don’t hold our breath- yes?

This makes me wonder what people are willing to wait for. I think there is a lot of diversity in this. Personally, I would love to see common sense weave its way into politics along with some integrity and honor.

This was well written Vivian . A fascinating form of waiting. Waiting on in any waiting room — frustrating too.

A good option Vivian! It puts the stress away rather than having to cope with unnecessary worry and bother which may not be there eventually!
