How to interpret this poem. It’s either a narcissist reveling in their sense of self
or a lost soul who’s finally found herself
You decide.
Picture this:
Finally catching up with the old ‘you’
-rushing into each others’ arms
-hugging and whooping for joy
Her- peering into your eyes, fearing the loss of innocence
You-adoring all of her- warts and all
Both of you- leaning into each other
-secure in the knowledge of being ‘enough’
How’s that for finding yourself?
Groovy! Ain’t it?

I can actually relate to this – I am NOT the person I was as a kid, teenager or even young adult, but I do get her out now and again and remind myself that she is still a part of me and sometimes, a better part of me! Nicely penned.

I think I like the second interpretation best. I’m all for lost souls finding themselves again.

There have been so many me’s in my lifetime I was a bit disappointed with some of their behaviour but they weren’t bad overall!

Time and aging changes us quite a bit. You have shown this very nicely. The passion has lessened though capacity for love has grown.
Nice. Grovey, Vi ian.

I like this and definitely read it as someone finding herself, her confidence and self-worth. That is a wonderful moment! And hope it sticks.

I think it is groovy! Self-acceptance and care is not the same as narcissism.

To accept yourself in the past that is cool… I still have to accept myself in my pimpled teens, but it will come.
