if perfume had an emotion
it would be a violent silence
evoking quantum leaps into far-off memories
raking over histories
with a voice of unfading notes
and a presence that may cloy or dim
yet, never ever leaves

There are so many scents like that and not only perfumes. I like walking in pine forests and by tinkling streams and even on moors and mountains and they all have their own beguling scents.

Such a word combination, an internally rhyming oxymoron: ‘violent silence’! I love that you have captured perfume to accurately in ‘quantum leaps into far-off memories’, Viv.

This is incredibly deep and philosophical, Viv! ❤️ I love; “violent silence” and “with a voice of unfading notes” 🙂 Thank you so much for writing to the prompt.

Some scents can be quite invasive. Smelled even when we’d prefer not to.

What a vivid description of perfume! (Enviously, I wish I had thought of it.)
