Would that
words never wore disguises
or found the need to lay on lying tongues
Would that
integrity still had the same cachet
and a straight path was the only one of its kind
Would that
being a person of substance was the norm
and not the exception
would that…would that…would that…sigh!

My mother-in-law used to despair and say there were no more saints. But I’d rather believe there are many, we just have to look around and find them. I love your poem/prayer.

Integrity and the lying tongues are part of the same confusion–if one could tell the true from feigned it might help. Although perhaps it’s also part of where attention is directed? This is a poem that will keep me thinking.

Well you are right. It is not the norm. It is rare. Most important thing is to make sure you are one of the rare people because if you are, you enjoy everything in life better . My grandma told me this and she knew everything:)
