It’s not where there’s clarity of thought
neither is it in those moments before sleep
But it’s in that space when I awaken
-where time is suspended
where my mind is flooded by 50 questions
all at once
who? where? what? and why?
then my life floods back in
and I remember
…just in time to…
shut the door on fear
close the lid on sadness
give pain some novocaine
while picking up my shield of faith
crowning my head with hope
and embracing my dreams
I’m awake now
