Rain beats at my window
trying to get in
I won’t let the drops
touch my skin
Their desire – to beat me
into blind submission
-to mix with my tears
making a sad precipitation
So nothing…but nothing
will make me let this rain in

A metaphor well used… we do need to spare ourselves from being soaked.

I needed to hear this one today – we mark 12 straight days of rain here in the *cough* ‘Sunshine State’ and I fear I’m drowning! This is a terrific write, Vivian!

Better to watch it through the window, Viv! A terrific rain Quadrille. As I read it I could hear that song, ”I Can’t Stand the Rain’. So here’s a link to Seal’s version:

I couldn’t find it with your link but found this one. A lovely song…I remember it from when I was younger.

“Rainy days and Mondays always get me down…” I applaud your version. You ain’t going to let it get you (further) down.

Great, the rain trying to become your tears. Holding it off like trying not to give in to crying!

So nothing…but nothing
will make me let this rain in
To combine with tears and collectively cause distractions – no, not to be allowed!

Yes sometimes the rain can put us over the edge! However the sound of it can be very soothing.
