Frozen still
A block of ice remains
Cold air flows
A block of ice remains
Arctic winds blow
A block of ice remains
Perchance sunlight’s warmth
Touches it’s face
Melting hubris to humility
Perchance warm hands caress
This block of ice you see
A melting
A knowing
Still waters set free

Victoria hosts dVerse today with the subject of SYMBOLISM. When we write symbolically, we choose something tangible to convey a more abstract concept or a mood or emotion.

That block of ice, how you used in in repetition, puts a focus on the symbol and works quite effectively.

The cold heart, cold part of yourself, his self. Got it. Interesting

love the “block of ice remains” repetition! This reminds me of the story of the bet between the sun and the wind concerning which of them could get a man to remove his coat! 🙂

Sometimes it takes the warmth of others to set us free from hubris, and we discover the real us and our world begins to grow.

Returning cold for cold does nothing to help thaw the atmosphere. Good symbol!
