Like a message in a bottle
my truth floats out there…. somewhere
never indicating if it will arrive to
overtake the lies that applaud me
proving once and for all I need not the
Queen’s speech to vindicate me

ALPHABET SESTET! The sestet part is easy: 1 poem of six lines. Choosing a 6 letter sequence in the alphabet, for example A-B-C-D-E-F or perhaps J-K-L-M-N-O. Those letters, in that sequence, are the first letters of the first words in each corresponding line — as in line 1 starts with a word that begins with J; line 2 starts with a word that begins with K; line 3 with L; line 4 with M; line 5 with N; line 6 with O.

Alas we are always first to vindicate ourselves… may the queens stay silent.

Well….you got me with the title and the first two lines here! The truth, bobbing up and down inside the bottle, bobbing up and down on the waves of humanity. Wow! What an image!
I know I know….I did read the rest of the poem but the title and the first two lines were really the amazers for me!!!
So glad you posted to the prompt!

Trump needs a railroad box car to hold his tussle with the truth; the rest of us must suffer through white lies, exaggeration and alternate facts.

Have you been watching the X-Files Marathon on BBC? And you are right. You are fine and strong without any vindication.

We spend much tome looking for vindication. If we’re lucky we learn we don’t need others to define us. Thoughtful verse!

It feels like this sometimes – that our truth, our essence is just out of reach.

I have to say, I really don’t understand monarchies and how they mess with the psyche, making your truth is somewhere else out there in the great blue, maybe never to be found. That is a strange way to live, but I guess to proclaim truth deriving from within can sound just as strange.

Oh yes, a poem is like a message in a bottle, and a poem is our truth! I like the almost-internal rhyme of ‘indicating’ and ‘vindicate’.

A great message. It is a struggle sometimes to let the truth be enough…..without it being heard, understood or believed by others.

I love this sestet; it’s so evocative of what I’ve been really struggling with lately, authenticity. These lines in particular really resonate, “my truth floats out there…. somewhere
never indicating if it will arrive to
overtake the lies that applaud me.”
