She cannot form words for replies
even if she tries to use her voice
the message in her sad eyes
transmits to all but not by choiceHer thoughts devoid of colour
her mind a myriad of images
her eyes tell a story of past valour
her soul unable to rebuild bridgesA single comfort erases her frown
and only for moments of time
a firefly allows her mind to climb
but only when added to her crown

I love how you brought it all together in the last two lines. There is something very composed in this poem.

Only upon collection, it seems. Dark, in the light, or at least I think so.

I see a woman who have a few moments of joy in an otherwise dark life.

“transmits to all but not by choice” … Oh, don’t you hate that? When you’re intent on hiding the truth, but your eyes let it all out …
“her eyes tell a story of past valour” … Poor thing. 😦
“a firefly allows her mind to climb
but only when added to her crown” … Wow. That is awesome.

I love how you focus on her eyes 🙂 they do seem to ‘tell a story of past valour’.. Beautifully done.
