Laughing and singing
Surrounded by friends
Cumulonimbus clouds
Gathering
Just above her head
She sees them Harmonize
In the corner of eye
She sees them edge closer
And shivers with dread
Rictus smile in place
No expression on her face
Turning head away
Turning to the present instead
With bated breath she prays
For the clouds to go away
Slowly they leave
Leaving her relieved
She always watches for the clouds
Ambush, they’re sure intent
But catch her, they won’t
Not ever again
She’ll always keep ahead
She’ll never succumb
Never relent

I like the confidence infused in this poem.
