Many names does she go by
Revelling in her darkness
Made complete by the starkness
Of a bereft soulImmune to season’s cheer
The evil queen guards her heart
Ensuring none come near
Lest they see her spirit in partVengeance she proclaims
On the fairest in the land
Her crown she must reclaim
Even if by her own handOnly the crow into her soul peers
In her heart wedged between
a life of old of Christmas cheer
one none else can see

“In her heart wedged between / a life of old of Christmas cheer” Intriguing. Christmas is to blame for the evil queen. Shades of Narnia, or a ridiculously high electric bill (…was she an American?)? Love your poem! Just had to reflect on this part of your final quatrain.

Hi Charley, I just went where my muse took me!😂. The main problem I had with this image was its darkness at such a festive time. Hence, Christmas had to be snuck in somehow. As to the other references – only my muse knows! I’ve no idea!😂

Nicely done Vivian. There is certainly that sense of evil about her in the image.
