Writing to me is a release. I have to admit, I’m addicted! I love creating something out of that ether of words. Fiction allows me to create an alternate reality while poetry….ah!….poetry allows me to play hide and seek with the reader. I might say something plainly or hide it between layers of words.
I’ve written 50 unpublished poems I intend to collate into a book -“Life Cycle”- and I’m struggling with the cover design. I have to admit I’ve been really lazy about completing the task. But now I’ve mentioned it, this will be the push to move forward.
These poems are laced with hidden truths and vivid imagery which I’ve woven with the alphabets A to Z; creating pictures which may linger, burrowing into your soul.
If there’s a cure for this addiction, I’m not interested!

Well said, Viv! I also write for release and yes, I am also addicted. I definitely suffered withdrawal last week. I shall be looking out for that poetry collection.

At some point your poems will number over a thousand, and still there is more to see, to feel, and to say. I had a friend who used to say, “When it comes to the heavy lifting, bring in the poets”.

“poetry allows me to play hide and seek with the reader” … Love that.
The cover art is a HUGE component; I can understand why it’s stressing you.
“These poems are laced with hidden truths and vivid imagery” … I like that.

I never thought I’d be a poet, but saying much with few words captivates me. It teaches you the economy of words and how to select the right ones. I believe writing poetry improves prose greatly.

Writing becomes beautiful when you are addicted to it 🙂
And a treasure of 50 unpublished poems! Vivian, you must work on the cover page to see your dream come alive! Great plans and good luck!
