I have spoken of these lovers before
How enthralled they’ve become
with each other
How one succumbs to yellowing
fade when wallowing in neglect
How the other dies – with blood-frozen veins… if it does not hold its mate dear
It’s a wonder to see them mid-dance
as their entwined forms unravel
hidden mysteries and unfurl stories
I have become caretaker to both
..making sure one is ever ready for the other
It is a love older than the ancients
and a passion without sin
There is no judgment for the love story
between pen and paper
in our world

What is the pen on the page without the fingers that turn the page? I love the sound of ‘yellowing’ and ‘wallowing’, Viv, and the lines:
‘It’s a wonder to see them mid-dance
as their entwined forms unravel
hidden mysteries and unfurl stories’.

The thought of the pen making love to the paper is an excellent metaphor for poetry…

Very clever! And a very English, Donne-ish sort of tone to it.

This leaves no question of the intimacy between pen and paper, each with a desire to join with the other. Well done.
