A pregnant world screams
as empathy rides through cities
buoyed by indignation
while ignoring sophistication
and savoir faire
A heavy world screams
as her labour groans
cause scales to fall away
from blinded eyes
unstopping ears along the way
An expectant world screams
while we coax her to keep breathin’
as the raw truth is born

Yes, Viv, we need to keep this world breathing! Your personification portrays her as vulnerable. I hope she births a stronger world, one that puts humans in their place but also nurtures them as ever.

It is sad that so many people throughout the world still think of the Earth as a source of constant profit regardless of the damage done to seas, skies, icecaps, forests, rivers and wild animals in so many countries. Luckily poets and others see this problem but there are so many blind to the own actions.
