On a street without rooms
the ink on these long forgotten walls
cries out with a voice that
knocks on the doors of our understanding
searching for substance
eager for purpose
pleading for life
on its journey
from our minds
through our lips
into a brave world

a street wise room “echoes with the sounds of silence”

I like the “doors of our understanding” metaphor. It seems like some people’s “doors” are willfully and forcefully closed.

I wish that we would really live by the voice of that ink.

I like the way your photo and poem suggest the room is the street – a public place where the Earth demands to be heard and seen.

Yes Suzanne- thank you- that’s exactly was what I was searching for.

Before I even saw Suzanne’s comment, I immediately picked up on the idea that the room is the street, a public place where the words on the walls have more meaning than people like to think – love that they knock on the doors of our understanding in a place that, although it has doors into individual homes, has no doors of its own. Let’s hope we are all listening, Viv, because we need that brave new world.
