The source of inspiration for this piece was the preponderance of fake news, lies, gossip and the like. They never last, as truth ultimately outs itself.
However, while these negative elements rage, with much drama, they insist on infecting every ear that lends itself to their falsity.
Between wrong and right
lost within shadows and substance
falsity sits upon the back of truth
glaring at equity
cackling at fairness
challenging the span of its season
-defying the rule of reason

The lies are becoming such a big part of politics… once there were half-truths and omissions, now it’s down to plain and obvious lies. Unfortunately, I don’t think truths will conquer for many years again. Trust is broken.

It seems to be a common feat to feature fake news nowadays .. no matter where and which channel… sigh 😦

Sadly, this makes so much sense–the false riding the truth to appear to be the same beast.

I absolutely agree. Fake news, lies, gossip and the like defy the rule of reason. Even though truth eventually prevails, lives affected are never the same again. A sad reality well captured.

I’m definitely with you here. As I often say: there’s only one truth – there isn’t one.

“Falsity sits on the back of truth”. It is next to impossible to sort truth from fiction given that our media is more occupied with drama than fact. I long for simpler days!

I think I just heard Reason screaming her frustration. The world is a mess. And too many continue to pretend that truth isn’t falling to pieces.

Ha, I can almost see Falsity glaring around from the back of that horse …. wait, it IS one of the riders of the Apocalypse, right?

Good writing with poem, Vivian. Fake News has been overused, overused as a copout for answering the question presented. I use that phrase now, sort of a joke. When I wish to duck a question.

Humans are an ugly race with no thought for their own kind apart from the possiblility of cheating them somehow and to snigger behind their backs. Once we just tried to survive now we eat or are eaten!

I think most truth just gives up and dies.. fake news rules and the world has gone to hell in a basket! But that’s enough pessimism for one morning 🙂

We are slaves to false narratives that dominate the world. Truth, logic and grace will only conquer if we have the will to love one another above ourselves.
Or so I heard…
A good reminder to take everything we read or hear with a huge grain of discerning salt.

… oh so much to say here. Yes, we must ask a LOT of questions these days and not just rely on the “news”. “lost within shadows and substance” yup.
