Sometimes I’m a friend you want to greet
Other times I’m that friend you’d rather not meet
I swim in your tears
I ride on your smile
I whisper in your ear
and chase away your fears
I wasn’t born on loose leaf pages
but birthed
by a heart pregnant with grief or joy
This is how it’s been through the ages
I spread sound where I can
and bring comfort when silence is mute
You’ll only call me by name
when your heart says
‘Tribute’

Beautifully written Vivian. Good friends are always needed to chat with to unload your troubles.

A beautiful take on the prompt! And so satisfyingly constructed; together the crafting and the sense leave me with a feeling of comfort.

I enjoyed your lovely tribute, warm and fuzzy for a day that’s pretty chilly where I live!

I read this in a different point of view each time through. Interesting take but this stands out for me: “I wasn’t born on loose leaf pages
but birthed
by a heart pregnant with grief or joy”
The only place that words can come from.

An incredibly poignant tribute, Viv! 💝💝 I too admire; “I wasn’t born on loose leaf pages
but birthed by a heart pregnant with grief or joy.” 🙂

Calling someone by name is the highest tribute we can give to that person.
