The world is full of people
who may suffer loneliness
(at times)
or crave aloneness
(at times)
But even then- they are greeted
by the sun
everyday
and escorted home by the stars
every night
They may carry bags full of mistakes
yet have no evil buried
within their bones
Heck-
even roses wear thorns

To be human is to carry all those mistakes. Thank goodness the sun and stars don’t take them into account when they accompany us.

To me it sounds like we should try watching the sky from to time to time… so much pain can be soothed that way.

The sun and stars are welcomed are are both a comfort and guides. They also give us a show when it is allowed.

I love this, and this is how I feel, too – no matter what, we are surrounded by such beauty, and so many gifts to keep our hearts full.

This is gorgeously rendered, Viv! ❤️ I resonate strongly with; “They may carry bags full of mistakes yet have no evil buried within their bones.” 🙂

This brought tears to the surface; unexpected mercies are sometimes sharp and perfectly rendered in this poem.

Oh, those bags full of mistakes. Great title (to pin this piece from) … probably the truest …deeply nuanced … and most often invoked – clique, ever penned … but it certainly says it all. I do so enjoy the clarity and conversational tone you capture in many of your pieces, Vivian. They are a pleasure to read.

The rose expects to be loved despite its thorny faults; we should not change either to suit another.

Without those thorns, they wouldn’t be real roses. And we so love them real (and thorny).

I think a lot about those whose mistakes might paint them as evil to those who don’t know them or to those who are on the receiving end of their mistakes. How to reconcile the good with the unacceptable in those we love…and those we don’t. Accepting that we are all made of the same star stuff, we all make each others’ mistakes. Lots to think about here. Well done.
