My face doesn’t betray my heart
neither does my pulse thrum
too many beats apart
For, when I dance in the shadows
making light
of my plight
I waltz with gusto
urging my spirit to
take flight
So, though my wings are broken
and my feet slosh through tears
-they have perfect vision
as they dance away
the darkness of my lost years

My favorite Bruce song! Your poem spoke to me … as good poetry does.

broken wings and tears, and yet you see clearly. Life’s lessons…. yes I get this.

Sooo sad your poem, but it is a clever tale of overcoming. The line, “though my wings are broken” shows cruelty, wings dont break without outside force.
