I used to call it “my” fear

but I’ve put a stop to that

I will no longer have it so near

Instead, I answer it back

whenever it opens

it’s cavernous mouth – to attack

But never does it stop talking

Sneering, discouraging

whether I’m sleeping or waking

But with courage clenched between

my teeth

I rise to every hope and every dream

with fire in my feet

This battle will only end – on the day I die

So when you see me charging over

pages of ink- without pause

At least- now you know

– the reason why!
