A poem is a land
with oceans and shores
looking up at swelling moons
and shrinking suns
that live in cloud-choked skies
that spend their days
and nights
stretching over a
dying earth

A sadly true look at the times we live in. It astonishes me that we know the peril we are in, yet governments take no steps to combat it.

The transition in this poem is expertly handled, Viv, and the end comes as a shock. Only the poem lives on.

The poem as this land provides such a grim image of how things stand — your line-breaks and build up work so well.

Vivian, this is a sad poem to read for those of us who care for Mother Earth. The astronauts will have these discouraging views from above.

OMG.. thanks so much, Vivian… I don’t have a kindle (yes, very neanderthal!) but apparently it put the book on a kindle cloud and is letting me read it on my laptop…which is all cool! So can’t wait to get into it! Congratulations and here’s to many more publications! Thanks again!!!!

Lots of heartache in this poem, Vivian. What a sad poem, the legacy of a dying planet.
