A single moon remains still
as the day tries to undo the night
and the night tries to lift the oceanwhile the ocean beats the rocks
and the rocks skewer the earth
who tries to hold herself together

Oh my word, this is TIGHT! You should be very proud of this piece.
I am especially “skewered” by these lines:
“as the day tries to undo the night”
“and the rocks skewer the earth”
Fantastic work, girl.

I love how you’ve captured that point in time when night is almost over and morning has almost begun, Viv, as well as the current ecological situation. Poor Mother Earth, trying to hold herself together.

This is utterly gorgeous writing, Viv! ❤️ I love the poignancy of “as the day tries to undo the night and the night tries to lift the ocean.” Thank you so much for writing to the prompt 😀

The gravity of it all. Love the momentum from the stillness of the moon to a world trying to hold itself together.

I like this, Vivian. It sings a prolonged version of the kids’ “Rocks, paper. Scissors” game. The clever purple moon illustration works nicely, I like the Hobo camp out there in the moonlit bay.

What a competitive world we live in! However it is a lesson to us all as we all have our chance to succeed but eventually someone else will come along and takeover. As always in your poety you give us something to think about Vivian.

The power of the quiet moon, and its tidal flux. Hauntingly engaging Vivian.

a struggle we don’t really see or hear – but it is there, recurring everyday (and night)
