I only have to pick any news snippet nowadays to read an article that makes my blood boil. It sometimes seems as though the world has lost its head! Here’s a cherita poem to reflect my thoughts:
When the aroma of wrong becomes right
man forgets his sense of peril and plight
losing his will to fight the good fightrevelling in darkness and eschewing the light
allowing egos to rise to great heights
shameless to truth and basking in blight

I read the poem before reading the intro, and burst into knowing laughter (of pure despair) because I was about to type, “So, you’ve been watching the news again?”, as a joke. It’s a terrible thing, isn’t it? The horrors some people grow to accept as “the new normal”.

So true, so depressing, increasingly so every single day.

“When the aroma of wrong becomes right,” oh yes that sums up the chaos in the world so well! Such a brilliant Cherita, Viv! 💖 Thank you so much for writing to the prompt 😍😍

With every day, a new darkness on the horizon. There is so much truth here Vivian.

This is so well stated. Very true, so we have to work harder to sniff out the good and then spread it around.

Bad is good and hot is cool. I’m so confused. I think we’d be better of to put things in our own words. Sound bites and name calling is lazy. Thanks for sharing and caring.

So true – after a while wrong seems to become right, and it seems we lose our energy to fight the good fight after being worn down by all the evil which transpires day after day.

Ugh. I know you’ve spoken the sad truth here. I hope we never give in to the lies and start seeing them as truths. I fear though, that some already have.

Good is hiding behind the golden door these days, scared. Can we vote the evil away?

In my head your cherita turned into a rap, Viv! The alliteration in the final words really makes the point.

And so many of us just marinate in that stench of evil, growing more used to its presence. We need to clean the house and air things out. This should not be normal.

Love it! Wrong has an aroma … oh: yes it does. This is my third cherita – and marks my introduction to the form – this week, at Poet’s Pantry. I really like it, and will probably give it a go sometime soon.
