An excerpt for Verses of April. I wrote this to reflect the increasing rarity of care and compassion
Day 4
whether to plant or to hoe
the gardener takes care of his plot
He tends to young plants
lines up trees in uniformity
and speaks to rose bushesHe cares for his garden all year long
and yet
when he isn’t looking
his garden is destroyed
by unknown personsThey pull up his young plants
and trample on his rose beds
This, they do for no reason
If we were to ask them, they would
likely say, “because we can”This…is the world we live in now

So true!
This is the world we live in.
I shudder to think of what the world will be like for the next generation.
Will definitely read.

Yes, unfortunately we do live in a world where people simply do bad things because they can.

People destroy what they should nurture. A very telling commentary.

It’s awful that someone would be so cruel. I’m a member of a BBC gardening site on FB and saw where a horrid person stole all of someone’s plants.

Sadly, yes. Kids must feel very disconnected and uncared for, to vandalize gardens. Sigh.

It is a very sad world, when the innocence of a garden or plants, become a target for anti-social behaviour…

That is sad but true. Some people have no qualms about trampling on someone else’s “garden”, because they simply can.

Shudder. This happened to a friend of mine, heart-broken when she had left her cabbage for one. more. day. and it was gone! I pray for those who need to destroy and for those who rebuild and rebuild and rebuild, true stewards of our earth.

Sometimes things are done that are distructive, but are just done by people who aren’t thinking. The person who picks someone’s prize flowers for their mother not realizing they aren’t yours to pick verses someone who stomps your prize flowers because they actively hate or want to do you harm. Or just want to destroy someone’s hard work? I’ll tell you this is a complicated world your words are so right! Hugs!
