I’ve stopped wishing to be some one else. You know, that self-assured someone who’s got
their act together and seems knows how to handle everything…. anytime?
I embrace my imperfections…knowing that perfection is pure fantasy.
I embrace my weaknesses now……because I suspect they’re a disguise for a strength I’m yet to encounter.
This is what ‘living’ is meant to look like……. isn’t it?
I’m no stranger to gormless days
that seem determined to make no sense
I’m a witness to dark clouds and
frightened days that try to outrun a dark fog
So…
When you see my feet
you may see fear trying
to nail them to the floor
But can you see my spirit?
Only when I lift off
will you know (or not) what came before

Great use of the word, Viv. I am familiar with such days myself.

Thanks Kerry. We can’t avoid such days sometimes- just power through them I guess.

That’s how it is to live — this is such a wonderful assertion of spirit and determination: “Only when I lift off/will you know (or not) what came before”. 🙂

Anyone who goes around thinking (or forever hoping) for eternally perfect days is up for a not-so-gentle smack in the face. Chaos is part of what we are and do. In the end, accepting that is what gives us the fuel to soar.

Ah, I indeed can ‘see’ your spirit in your poetry! Very nice message in your words….wishing one were someone else is definitely counter productive!

me neither, Viv! I agree, there is no sense in withing we were someone else. That is the key to happiness, self acceptance.

Imperfections (or differences) make a person far more interesting and they may see things in a fresh light. It is so important we embrace our differences to expand our knowledge and understanding.

A mighty fine poem, anticipating both the fear down and the lift off! Perfection is in the poetry that captures an imperfect reality as perfectly human. I include in that the sense of being watched. You’ve captured it all.

I love that phrase “gormless days”. It’s just such a great descriptor- I know exactly what days like that feel like, how frustrating that can be. Which makes the thrill of flight that much more glorious
