This was a relief. Being freed from editing my poetry book to respond to today’s prompt; to write about this very moment. Now, what to write?….ok, I’ve got it. I can’t hold onto time- not the present or the past. The future’s out of reach anyway…..so what to do?
No longer do I try to grab each moment by its coat-tails
I’ll only watch as each swims up to me, teases me and flits away
No longer do I ache for moments that have slipped past
Nor do I linger over what could’ve been
Now, I savour each moment that marches by
I’ve learned to use these moments…..
to ignore my shadows…. but keep chasing my dreams
I’ve learned to respect these moments
…they simply allow me to be me

How important those dreams are to keep us going. But we are lucky as writers as we always have that urge to write something down!

That last line captures the joy of a moment so well. All the best with book editing.

Vivian, I so relate! Being much older, I was walking with a friend, also a senior, the other day and we agreed the fact that we are still here is something to be so grateful for. Smiles. Be Here Now is especially relevant to we oldsters.

And to those who appreciate that life is a time sensitive gift.

Isn’t it nice to have some moments to be “just mine?” We seem to have less and less of them. (Mrs. Jim is sitting beside me in the front seat, in line to pick up our granddaughter daughter at her school as s “car rider”. I’m answering blog comments. DOES THAT COUNT, as “just mine”?)

Beautiful wisdom in this. Chasing shadows of all we did or didn’t do blinds us to the glory of today.

And that is a hard lesson to learn. Beautiful, Vivian!
