The prompt for this piece is to write about a place with deep meaning to us, a place that heals us. This was easy! My favourite park has a lake and a bench I’ve been talking to for years. I haven’t visited my bench in a long time, but will do so in the spring. we have a lot of catching up to do!
Still waters, clear skies
nature’s tapestry feeding my eyes
A bench beckons
we say ‘hello again’
We’ve met many times before
Words are redundant here
I speak only in sighs
as my eyes drink in the beauty
and my lungs fill with cool air
Its the best hospital I know
for when I leave, I’m all out of sighs
my thoughts are clear
and I feel whole again

Utterly beautiful Vivian. I am sure there is a place somewhere for all of us to sit down and unwind and refresh as we are given a chance to comtemplate our lives and be thankful for everything.

I’m sure that bench has heard so much of your heart and it always sits as a welcome place to hear more.

Liking this a lot, Vivian. We ran across a bench like this at the navigatable end of a fjord in Norway. We sat for quite a long time.. There also was a similar one ate the edge of a cove of the lake where we used to live. Adi, my beagle dog, and I would stop there, sometimes staying for over an hour. A really joyful read tonight, thank you.
