Forget glass ceilings
it’s those concrete walls
you need to be concerned about
It starts with the walls of the mind
which need hacking
-setting free the helium mind to the right altitude
Then there are walls of fear
that can only be demolished
by the anger of a Rosa Parks
Next, there are those walls of injustice
-oft times needing long stretches of Mandela patience
-coupled with the wisdom of Solomon
And then you have those fortresses of every manner of human evil
seemingly impervious strongholds
the kind that protect abusers and the unjust
For these- we roll up our sleeves, take a breath- and prepare to Erin Brokovich them into oblivion

Love the ending of this! Erin is now a verb and a powerful one at that.

Brilliant use of the right people for each instance, and I love, love, love the culmination, using Erin Brokovich as a verb. (I see I am not alone in that! 🙂 )

Building and tearing down walls–oh, how busy we all are. Trump’s stupid wall comes to mind, and those walls of Jericho too.

Lol! Trump’s wall…I haven’t heard anything on that lately…what’s the gist on that?

Aha…We need those forces to demolish all such walls. Love the Rosa Parks one best. The close is stellar!

This poem has a great illustrative shape, Viv, and the way you’ve built up the different kinds of walls (pun intended) and the people who helped demolish them. I agree about the brilliant verbing! I especially love the phrases ‘-setting free the helium mind to the right altitude’ and ‘Erin Brokovich them into oblivion’!

Violence is not a solution but anger? I’ll take two! What a strong impetus for change.
