I hear silence in the deepest dark
as it tip-toes on padded feet
carefully stepping around
the fractures of my mind
not making a sound
as it leaves me
as quiet
as can
be

I love the sounds of silence, hear padding about, avoiding the fractures and leaving you as quiet as can be.

This silence and quietude resound with the experience of an emotion deeply felt. That “carefully stepping around the fractures of my mind” really resonated with me. But is it only the calm/peace before the storm?

The tip-toes of padded feet makes me think of a cat prowling at night, silent and careful. This is beautiful writing Vivian.

I love the sounds of the end words. The rhymes work really well and hold the poem together. Silence comes and goes so mysteriously.

Nice personification of silence. Reminds me of a cat.

You’ve filled this fussy little form with silence, Viv! I could be a cat or a wolf on those padded feet, a dream or a nightmare.

I loved how I (as reader) spoke the words quieter and quieter as I went down the page so I made as little noise as possible. Brilliant!

this one is really effective, Viv. The spacing leaves room for thought as one reads.

As quiet as can be. The form really works for this, well done! Kind of brings to mind The Trumpet of the Swan, for me.

The poet can be thankful that the fractured mind sustains no further damage from the silence.

Somehow I think that the more silence there is the louder it is… love it.

Love the idea of silence tip-toeing and leaving as quiet as can be… it reads as both ominous and calming ❤️ Beautifully done Viv 🙂

Silence, it has its own language. It’s own song. It doesn’t arrive often enough for me.
