If all we do is ignore their ‘-isms’
of what use are statues and symbols?
If we longer have the ability to spell
we may be forgiven for not knowing
this French lady’s name
we might think she means to ward people off
with her torch of flames
We might not know that she’s loved by many
-who know her by name
-who know the essence of her ‘ism’
And who are ready to wear her truth

“…who are ready to wear her truth”…This is such a mighty fine line. Wow!

You highlight a very important truth–for those already here as well as those trying to arrive. She is not a guard but a symbol, carrying a meaning I wish all could wear as clothes, even as skin. Very fine!

And all we do here in America is ignore those who are ready to wear the promise and truth of our dear Lady.
“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Sadly, most people have taken the true meaning of the Statue of Liberty and the inscription on its base for granted. As a child of an immigrant, who came to Canada, in 1952, I can still hear my dad and uncles tell horror stories, how they were treated by other Canadians, when they settled in northern Alberta.

I can just imagine the stories. It’s so dangerous when we ignore history…we’re bound to repeat the mistakes.

A country does not profit by losing its soul. Sadly the world is ruled by sales and profit quite happy to ignore history. While humans are just food in the trough of mindless pigs we will not see a free world smiling again.
