These days…. shipwrecked on the shores of the living
Most days….carving a new path with my shovel
Some days ….chasing my rabbit-running heart…. imploring it to ‘please calm down!’
Sometimes….hiding under a thick blanket of metaphors
Most times……hiding my fire-breathing dragon beneath serene smiles
Oft times…. finding diamonds- discarded by my spirit…. as it furiously makes room for more

Amaya hosts dVerse tonight with a prompt in honour of the 199th anniversary of Walt Whitman’s birth, she wants us to be inspired by his magnum opus, ‘Song of Myself’ – and write as if it’s an ad for a soulmate.

Wonderful! You’ll attract a more serious lover than I will.

Yes, we change with the days! And yet there is an underlying sameness in each one also. Love this!

I wonder why your spirit would be furious in making room for more diamonds? Maybe you need to let your inner dragon express itself more often! Thanks, Vivian.

🤣- I meant fervently…. but decided to use furiously. I wanted to instil a sense of urgency.

“Most times……hiding my fire-breathing dragon beneath serene smiles … Oft times…. finding diamonds- discarded by my spirit…. as it furiously makes room for more” Beautiful work, Vivian! My soul smiled with resonance when I read your words. Sometimes we just need to tap into our fire-breathing dragon and let her loose!

Diamonds are a dragon’s best friend. Ok to hide the dragon beneath the smiles, the fire in the belly moves a person to action, when it flies out it just increases your risk profile on the actuarial tables. This was so very lovely, thanks.
