We are told that as humans, we’re born with a conscience. It’s purported to be a voice that instructs us on the difference between good and evil. Christians are likely to equate this to the voice of God.
In my experience, it’s a still, small voice that is either the voice of reason or a gut instinct. I believe in that voice; it’s warned me of danger countless times and saved my skin more than once. More recently, this same voice fires my imagination and gives hope to my musings.
I hear your voice
carried by soft winds
beyond a burning bush

Frank hosts dVerse tonight with the theme for this Haibun Monday to write on anything to do with internal chatter or what he calls- silent sounds.

Good point about conscience being worth paying attention to and a voice of God. I liked the burning bush reference in your haiku.

Thanks Frank…. we have to give the internal voice a name, I suppose.

The voice that guides me, the one that keeps me from stumbling (all right, running) head first into totally silliness, that glorious voice… has always been the voice of my grandma.

Amazing and creepy (in the best of ways). She has been gone, from the world of the breathing, for a very long time… but I still can’t curse in Spanish. I always think she will pop right behind me and have… words with me. LOL!

There is so much more to life than the burning of bushes, you are so right! Just listen 🙂

That still small voice also has a silent roar – I’m glad you listen to it, Viv, and that it’s kept you out of danger. Keep listening – you can always walk around a burning bush.

I think the conscience is a strong voice we should remember to listen to.. we all have that feeling and to me it’s a human voice.

Lovely poem. I like how you are conscious of listening to that voice (whatever one might call it), and how it has saved you.
