Every so often life
requires you to swim
through a lake of pain
where feet don’t touch the bottom
where light is muted by inky blackness
where hearts tremble in anguish
and breaths are too distraught
to follow each other
But swim – we must
through this lake of pain
-for a welcome shore awaits-
where feet hug the comforting earth
where darkness is replaced by memories
and occasional tears keep dead spirits aliveThis is deaths pathway for the living
We swim….we survive
wiping tears …as we crySuch is death
such is life

This is very dark Vivian, as I am swmming in that lake now I was rather suprised to find you as a companion. Come on now think of brighter things and imagine a beautiful future.

Thanks Robin. It’s only dark because I lost a family member 2 days ago….and found myself in the Lake.

I actually found this poem hopeful…we must all go through tough times, but we must remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for the reminder! Powerful writing.

Beautifully described. This is the way of it, for sure. I especially love the memories being death’s pathway for the living.

So true….. the only way to get through the lake of pain is to swim through it. The only way through any problem is to tackle it head on. Meaningful write here. Well expressed.

Oh I know this all too well at times and so tiring that long swim….but swim we must. I loved the feeling your words evoked of the comforting shore.

A dark entry from you today, Vivian. Yes, the memories await, though sometimes getting there is hard.

Yes, thanks Sarah…kind of a reflection of my mood. I lost a family member on Friday. Feeling low.
