Blurred vision at sunrise
It’s no use looking at my phone
A slow shuffle to the shower
No longer the canter of yesteryearSilver hairs along my hairline
camouflage makeup
for them and for me
No longer the youth of yesteryearI watch you dress
a little slower than before
No longer shoes with laces
No longer the suppleness of yesteryearThe world has sped up
-or more likely – we’ve slowed down
Holding hands- we approach our sunset
-creaking towards our twilight years

This is me, although I can still tie laces, I choose not to 🙂 how wonderful that you have a partner to share this time with you (if it is yourself in this poem) your words speak truth for many ,,

Your words seem true…I think I am slowing down, and if age is the answer, so be it.

Getting older is only for the brave. Your closing lines have an element of comfort in them though. LOL, I let my hair go totally white (it went white when I was hospitalized for cancer) several years ago. I don’t wear makeup but on days like this when my knees cause me pain, I can totally relate. Thus is only wear shoes that slip on! Good write Vivian.

Only for the brave…I like that! You must look fierce with your all-white hair!

Ha! I look like a beach wall with a white wig. Although when I would blowdry my hair, my mother would say I looked like a Japanese demon. My hair is down to my waist.

I hear the cure for aching bones is…daily swimming , acupuncture, a handsome compliant butler, household help and lots of garlic:)

I don’t want to say I can relate… trying hard to ignore the signs but I do hope I have a hand to hold throughout the journey – that was my favorite part of the poem.
