“So hot the struggle for a spot that it is won”
A quote from The Ballad Of The Proverbs – François Villon
Life-
with its backhand slaps
with its flashes of brilliance
with its combat boots
-isn’t for the faint of heartWe learn to dance in life
being quick on our feet
becoming adept with our armsto block those slaps
to catch those flashes of hope
to grab those combat boots

True. We learn to do all of this because life is a battle in many ways. Good poem.

I seem to recall a whimsical comment on life I saw somewhere … “Wear your boots, it gets deep!” I like the analogy.

Yes, sometimes we do have to wear those boots!! Hopefully, symbolically, rather than in reality.

Well said. I am thinking of civilians in Syria right now, suffering because of governments. I hope their feet are fast enough to stay safe.

Good to always remember: life is difficult. We must maintain the struggle. I like your response to this prompt. It is appropriately combative and hopeful

Lots of catchy sayings comes to mind when it comes to feet, Vivian. My favorite is “Think on your feet.” President Regan’s was “Vote with your feet.” Literally the foot is very important also, you did well. I like the combat boots picture, I still have mine.
