Poems are like burps
-Words find each other
(somewhere deep inside)
and decide to hold hands
like long-lost friendsThey arrange themselves in mysterious
patterns
under the muse’s conductor’s batonAt the appointed time
they come up for air –
releasing themselves forth
to be heard by any willing ear

Paul hosts dVerse today with the interesting theme of the Ars Poetica.
A term meaning “the art of poetry,” an Ars Poetica poem expresses that poet’s aims for poetry and/or that poet’s theories about poetry.

Not sure burps are always “heard by a willing ear.” 🙂 Fun correlation.

Lol. Poems as burps is a fantastic way to describe how the muse ‘erupt’s into our consciousness. Could be an interesting series Vivian . Poems as farts next? 😉

Poems are like burps and laughter is a strangling hand. I’m sure. Because your first line nearly made me choke with laughter. I was just not expecting the burp. 😀

I like the idea of words coming up for air so they can be read. It is amazing where they come from.
