I chased happiness through
forests of dreams
pie charts of ambition
and a nebula of visionsI caught happines but
her fleeting presence
always left me aching
for second helpingsI bumped into satisfaction
She stopped me dead-
From her bag- she brought out
peace and a calm of spiritI embraced contentment
and now smile at happiness’ short visits
My pulse- steady in rhythm
as satisfaction floods my soul

I really like this. The first stanza sets up the rest of the piece beautifully.

I am glad that satisfaction could remain with the poet even though she could only stay in person for a short while. Sounds like Somebody I know, Someone who also remains with me.

Yes, contentment is a more reliable and enduring friend – who, I think, enables happiness to visit for longer at a time.
