A woman at a certain age
counts her hatched chickens
she observes life’s horizons
and thinks..“what the dickens?”she draws up her bucket list
and starts marking her dreams
she develops itchy feet
because time has sped up-it seemsa woman of a certain age
clear about what she does NOT want
will push off into the unknown
and of life, no longer nonchalant

I do like your response to this prompt Vivian, with age they say comes wisdom in the form of being in charge of our lives, knowing what we want and where we might go and with whom. Thanks so much for adding your thoughts to this week’s Tale Weaver.

My mum used to when my dad was being silly ‘ he’s going through his second childhood ‘ I do think it’s fun we can think as a younger person even if physically it’s out of the question.

This reminded me of when I turned 30 and decided “to heck with it” on so many things I had incorporated in my life without questioning why. It was a liberating decision.

What a song…a mantra for a woman of a certain age…..I have become that woman and am making a list….and I certainly know what I don’t want!

🙂 Thanks Donna. I had a fair idea that we know what we DO want (love and peace)…but what we DON’T want…that list is always clear as day, n’est-ce pas?

When time shortens, choices become honed. At 70, i fled family demands which were gobbling up my life, and moved to the sea. Now my days have lengthened wonderfully. Smiles.

Let’s hope if she has children and nephews and neices she will tell them this too so they don’t waste too much time when the are adults! A really delightful poem Vivian.
