If I had a super power
It would be to reverse time
I would rewind every hour
to moments I can devour
that-to me would be sublimeI’d go back to a place
to press the reset button
I’d have no need to retrace
or find memories to erase
if I pressed the reset buttonI dream of this super power
Of loved ones long gone
their presence like scented flowers
where time is just ours
when the sun with strength-shone

Lillian at dVerse wants us to think of superpowers /super heroes in a poem.

This would be a super power indeed. I’m reminded of the play, Our Town…where the protagonist of the play is allowed to relive one day in his life. He ponders which to choose and the narrator of the play (who is himself a character in the play) warns him to pick a very very average nondescript day because going back in time, and even reliving the most common of days, will be a traumatic and emotional time.
Ah but to have time with those we’ve lost….
Lovely post to the prompt.

Reset buttons sometimes appeal to me as well.

“when the sun with strength-shone”
Memories can never precisely encompass the sound of their laughter or the radiation of their faces, can they?

I think that’s how God designed things… or we would never let go.

The nostalgia of the power to go back in time has a very strong pull.

A superpower that sounds good… imagine everything we could make right… but maybe it would be more chaos instead.

We’d have to tread carefully.

I like the idea of going back to see it all, but if we changed anything we wouldn’t be what we are now.
I think I would like to go back to savour some bits of it again, and perhaps to slow some bits down.

A good answer to the Matrix’s Morpheus, who famously quips, “Time is always against us.” Cool write!
