Reading these old letters
made special by your penmanship
They always makes me feel better
reading these old letters
Tears make my cheeks wetter
as I steady a quivering lip
reading these old letters
made special by your penmanship(RIP, Dad)

I have my mom’s handwritten letters and it brings a special joy reading it. So nice that you are able to keep your dad’s letters. They are precious keepsakes. Love the form too.

A great tribute for the love of a father, Vivian. Not many have the privilege of such letters you are blessed with!

Letters are very special when they come from a parent. I could feel the emotion in the flow of your poem. Very nice Vivian.

I wish I had some letters like that… my father and mother never wrote a lot and postcards are gone I think.

In the absence of these things, we still have our memories , at least.

There’s something so special about letters. An email isn’t quite the same! The gentle repetition works well here, and the different emotions the letters bring.

Such a pull on the heart. Sarah is right, email can’t contain the emotion and memory of the hand writing the words…(K)

Beautiful, Vivian. A lovely triolet, expressing a deep sentiment. The refrain just makes it all the more poignant.

Gulp. How beautiful. It makes me wish that I had something special left from my father rather than memories, although, I guess, memories shouldn’t be taken for granted. Thank you, Vivian!

It is amazing how an old letter can help me recall so many things I thought I had forgotten. It makes me wonder where those memories really are.

I agree, very special. I have my grandmother’s journal from when she was young, working the summer in Yellowstone 1915 I think. 🙂

Breathtaking! In fact, I just uploaded a ‘Triolet’ of my own onto my blog. It’s linked below. I’d love it if you would have a look over it and leave me some tips on how to improve. I’m sure I could learn a lot from you. I hope you like it!
