Some say a woman’s heart
wears lipstick and a pink tutu
They say her heart is soft
and forgives ever so easilyIn tandem with this tenderness
they say her heart is strong
with a tough exterior
able to withstand multiple blowsThus sayeth the ones
wielding the hammers
This is their narrative
keeping lipstick hearts
– under control

Soft-hearted and hard-headed…kinda hard to answer to both at once. Nicely done.

I’d be very suspicious of anyone who tries to define the landscape of my heart without knowing me first too.

You are on a sassy uppity woman roll and I love it. I like this poem in particular. You really put it out there. I too would be suspicious of someone trying to define my heart. It may wear a pink tutu but it walks around in combat boots.

I love your response…I’ll always think of you as the cute heart with combat boots. My muse seems to have recharged…and I’m loving it! 🙂

So many think they can describe your emotions without understanding that it takes listening and not just telling.

Idiocy brews all kinds of nonsense, doesn’t it? Every time I see someone grouping people, as if multitudes could be defined as one, I want to scream. A tutu? Fine! I hope it’s made of very flexible strong fiber, I’ve never met anyone who can wield a hammer while asphyxiating.

I think they should have eradicated the gene in men by now that attempts to rule women and subject them to abuse. Castration could be one solution.

We needed to read this, Vivian. feel for those women you wrote about. They are caught in a trap and are being used terriby wrong. I know several who didn’t put with it and I don’t think they forgave either.

Ballerina’s ARE tough (their work out routine would kill most men 🙂 therefore a tutu is a fine symbol of strength in my opinion.
