When life throws up roadblocks
I don’t sit around
feeling sorry for myself
or letting the grass grow under my feetNah! nah! nah!
You’ll find me with my shovel
carving a path
across vast fields
venturing into new terrain
stopping to admire the view
partaking of a new menuYeah! yeah! yeah!
An avidity for life
that’s me to a ‘T’
you’ll find me with my shovel
carving the earth before me

The right attitude shines here – my attitude too.
Why crucify yourself for things that can’t be undone – learn and move on. This is my philosophy.

Perhaps that is the downfall of man, with his shovel carving the earth. Then he sits back and wonders what happened? Perhaps too much carving?

Oh never ‘too much’ carving….the shovel is a metaphor for whatever instrument (or talent) you employ to get the most out of life. In my case…it’s my pen.

I like this! One can accomplish a lot with a “shovel” once one begins!

Oh bravo….I was almost dancing as I read along…cheering and saying, ‘yeah, yeah, yeah’! We all need to get back to the work of carving our paths and partaking of life without the worries that surround us. They will be there, but I don’t choose to sit and perseverate on them. Thank you for this poem…it is just what we all need right now!

Life is always better, more productive, when we choose the tool that gives us what we want (or, at least, the shovel that gets us there).

The best thing with shovels is that you can remove the shit… best way is to move on… listened to a podcast the other day where you needed a shovel when walking a Great Dane.
