Cascading all around me
words tumble and spin
Before, they failed me
but now I have a voiceweaving haikus and tankas
with a sprinkling of
katautas
Words, now my anchors
because I have a voiceI will not be silent
as my words spill
to be used as a tool
to give others a thrill
With breath in my bones
-my soul,
I dare to bare
I’m compelled
I have no choicebecause I’ve found
My Voice

What a rush to have the impulse and the voice both together, as they were meant to be! To dare to BE, and speak through that BEING is a joy worth the danger.

I feel the power of your voice coming through your words. I can relate to the feeling but in a slightly different way. I used to express my voice quite freely then it disappeared in a fog of indifference – now it’s coming back in a new, stronger way. I’m not quite as forthright as you yet though. Your poem is inspiring.

Thanks Suzanne, I’m not quite there yet either… but anything after ‘mute’ is a cacophony. ..and I’m loving it!

Finding one’s voice is the very first step to live a life meaningfully. And I love every word of this poem that works as a step to reach Voice. Beautiful.

If only more people would grasp how important their voices are and are not to be wasted. In Australia it is compulsory to vote in elections. Those that are eligible and fail to do so are fined if they don’t! The only way to avoid voting is to vote but spoil your ballot paper! So no-one can dispute whether the candidate or party deserved to get in!

I love that Australian rule. If nothing else, it emphasises the importance of our voices.
