I recently attended a Chris Rock show which was highly entertaining. Between laughs, he proceeded to tell us about his marriage, his infidelity and resulting divorce. His story is the inspiration for this poem.
Intense attraction
their story once upon
waist up to waist down
fixated eyes each other onmelted years flow past
ennui swims within
his eyes afar cast
enticement is seena search for ‘the new’
a fresh being to consume
love’s graveyard adds more crew
love of old- now entombed

A chilly ending in love’s graveyard, Viv, which reflects the indifference and coldness of an unhappy split.

Sad, Vivian. Brings to mind a child’s play, suddenly he/she spots a new toy and drops the one in hand.

A familiar story. The flaw being, eventually new gets old and there one is again.

There’s this feeling of a cyclical pattern, and that “the new” will undoubtedly share the fate of the old.

Such unhappy people with their infidelities. The new is always so shiny and attractive.

Perfect round-off of the aftermath of a stormy relationship. A lot of heartaches. Great word-craft Vivian!
