Your opening paragraph gave me a little thrill of excitement, like a child about to listen to a fairy story, and the rest of the story lived up to that promise. You paint a picture of the dream house that is delightfully personal to the narrator, reflecting his/her comfortable tastes. And then you finish the narrative with a sigh, and an unspoken story of love and betrayal.
I liked this rather a lot, Vivian!

I can empathise with this narrator. There’s a time in life when all things are possible. But there comes the time 8sit back and let others dream and do. You’ve caught this feeling very well.
