As seasons change
moods in full swing
women now arise
all lips unsealedas trees grow
so women sow
seeds of bravery
in this world we knowwith lips unfrozen
justice to the fore
as sea shells on sea shores
all women have spokenfresh frozen sharks
fished from the freeze
finding favour
in firecely forbidden
fin-filleted fusion

lips unsealed … Nothing is more powerful than truth spoken bravely and unapologetically.

Oh, I love this, especially “as trees grow / so women sow / seeds of bravery / in this world we know”. Women are brave, for sure. Thanks for writing to the prompt.

I loved the alliteration in your poem Vivian. Luckily I had a strong mother so never succumbed to the them and us of male and female. Thank goodness the world is slowly turning in the right direction in that matter but as for preservation of the Earth sadly that is another topic as greed squashes common sense because the future to those that decide is related to economics. Sadly the loss of trees, seas and fauna is of no matter because it interferes with the ability to make a profit.

Lips unsealed…women have been speaking for awhile but now we are finally being taken seriously. As trees grow, as seasons change, as seashells…I love all the equating to nature and women. The alliteration in the final stanza rocks. You made this prompt sing!

Thanks Toni 🙂 The difference I see now about women being listened to- is that we’re completely unified on this front.

I am glad, Vivian, that this is happening. Nicely written. It should not end with just a “me too” but action needs to take place. A show of strength will go far but a punch in the nose will be remembered longer. It will be a slow process though, just look at the Civil Rights movement.
I especially liked the next to last verse,
“… with lips unfrozen
justice to the fore
as sea shells on sea shores
all women have spoken … ”
The last verse though, was a little too cryptic for me to visualize as fitting the problem and solution.

Thanks Jim! You’re so right. The first 3 verses were pertinent to the prompt and the message. Because I was trying to fit in the climate change allusion, The final verse (written earlier)- was added- as it was too cryptic to mean anything. (It actually was in response to seeing frozen sharks on CNN). But I thought..hey, why not?

That’s a great title, Viv: ‘Seeding for Change’ and I love the lines.
‘as trees grow
so women sow
seeds of bravery’.
