If today was my last day
I’d bounce on the balls of my feet
life on replay
If today was my last day
begin debts to repay
forgiving my enemies
If today was my last day
I’d bounce on the balls of my feet

It takes balls
to dance on the rhythm
of your soul
of any soul
balls throw you back
right to where you belong
the only question is
where are you
NOW

Great poem. I always wonder why it is that we as humans would do something different if we knew it was our last day than we would on any other day. Since any day could be our last, shouldn’t we always bounce on the balls of our feet and forgive our enemies?

I really like the repetition. It’s quite brave in such a short piece. You’ve made me think of tennis players, responding to the ball as it comes towards them.

Oh, a triolet! I didn’t notice, sorry. Though I think that’s a compliment, actually, as it obviously just flowed. Sometimes forms can seem a bit stilted. Impressed that you managed a triolet with a word count!

Thanks Sarah :0 I didn’t realise it was possible either… now we both know ( i think its ‘cos the triolet has no syllable counts)

You finally wrote a triolet, and not content with writing a triolet you had to make it a quadrille too! What are you, some kind of maths expert? Brava!

Thanks Jane 🙂 And thank you for introducing this form to me. 🙂 🙂 This is my second one. I love the form…it’s like, but shorter than the Ghazal. The first try was this :

Forgiveness is more about us than anything, but it’s not easy. I think there are a few that I couldn’t honestly forgive even if it were my last day. Good work!
